my life in general

Hmm... I was born in Brooklyn, raised in a small town in Illinois, came to San Bernardino in '84. I went to UC Riverside and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, where I dropped out in four weeks. While I was at acting school, I discovered Samuel Beckett's novels and decided I wanted to be a writer. I returned to California and wrote a 450pg book of poems and short stories over five years. During that time, I went back to UCR for a spell and dropped out again. I immersed myself into classical music and Russian literature, my favorite author being Leo Tolstoy. I finally got my English degree but at the age of thirty.

In the next four years, I was a substitute teacher, actor extra, and spot welder for Toyota. I started on my teaching credentials but decided to write again. I'm in the Grad Writing Program in poetry, although I still think of beginning a novel. I guess the moral of my life is to keep doing what you're doing, no matter how long it takes.
